Golden rainbow or palomino?

The PFBC posted the following on their Facebook page

Golden Rainbow Trout are a favorite target of many Pennsylvania anglers. But do you know the difference between golden and palomino Rainbow Trout?

Both species have been selectively bred over time to achieve their unique colors. Golden Rainbow Trout are a product of crossing one golden Rainbow Trout with another golden Rainbow Trout. The palomino is a product of crossing a golden Rainbow Trout with a Rainbow Trout. Palominos are lighter and less vibrant in color and were stocked in PA waters in the late 1960s.

The PFBC currently raises and stocks the more colorful golden Rainbow Trout. You can get an up-close look at goldens at our hatcheries: http://ow.ly/MPov50INrwk
