Mentored Youth Fishing

The Statewide Mentored Youth Fishing Day is going to be held on May 10, 2014 from 8 am – 7:30 pm.  In our area, Little Pine Lake has been designated for mentored youth fishing and will be closed to all others during the above times.  The Susquehanna Chapter of Trout Unlimited with the PA Council of Trout Unlimited will be on hand at the lake to assist anyone who may need help.  If you are available for any part of the day to assist those who will be fishing, please call Dave Craig at 570-971-4744.  You can help for any amount of time that you can and any questions can also be directed to Dave.

Family Fishing Program

The Slate Run Tackle Shop is sponsoring a youth fishing day in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission on May 17 at the old camp ground below Slate Run on Naval Run.  Amity Daniel will be the coordinator for the Commission. The tackle shop will purchase 200 youth fishing licenses and give them away to the first 200 youth who apply.  They will supply rods (fly or spinning as requested) along with tackle for the day.  They are soliciting fisherpersons to instruct both youth, their parents, and other new fisherpersons.  Adults must purchase their own license.  The event will be held at the old campground between noon and 5 P.M.  Both Slate Run Tackle and the Commission will be publicizing the event.  The Susquehanna Chapter has been asked to provide as many instructors as possible.  Please consider in helping in some way and if you can, please call Tom Finkbiner at Slate Run Tackle (570-753-8551) to let him know that you will help out.  Tom has been a great supporter of our chapter for decades, and here is a chance to support a great event he is sponsoring and to introduce and help kids learn this great sport.
